The purpose of this blog is to know and understand the teacher's perspective concerning current issues on education reform and the teaching profession. Inputs from the ones who probably knows what is best for students academically -- the teachers -- are rarely considered in decision making of policies. Yet, these so-called education experts and lawmakers dictate how we do our jobs and what we should teach. That's not right!

A Vision for K-12 Students Today

In one of my graduate courses this summer, one of my classmates share this YouTube video with our class. It reiterates the need for more technology integration in today's classroom instruction. Check it out...

While I am all for instructional technology, to me, it seems as if the video message sent is misleading. In my opinion, technology is a TOOL, not a CURE for enhancing classroom instruction. Like with any tool, it requires extensive user training. Some teachers are more effective than others in incorporating technology into lessons. Thus, this is one of the many reasons sufficient teacher collaboration, meaningful professional development opportunities, and ample funding in school resources must be available for teachers to improve in their craft, as well as increase student achievement.

Again, what do I know?
